At long last, I can finally release this track to the world! Many of you probably remember me talking about the exceptionally large Final Fantasy IX project I was working on with the Pixel Mixers earlier this year. Since then, the project has premiered each disc (6 IN TOTAL) every week with the final disc scheduled to premiere this Friday.
It was only a matter of time before my track came up and as anxious as I was to release it, unfortunately, my track comes up much later in the actual game thus putting me on Disc 5…So…MUCH…..WAITING! (lol). Yes, I could have released it sooner, but I felt that releasing my version after the Pixel Mixers premier would help both our videos perform better.
Still, the wait was certainly worth it! Those of you who came out to the premiers got to talk with all of the 50+ composers live, and we even got to learn from each other exploring new production techniques and interesting execution styles!
“Depths of Oeilvert” is now officially available on my YouTube and SoundCloud page. You can also fully download the full free 7+ HOUR album from the Pixel Mixers website, or stream it entirely on YouTube via playlist or by disc (links below).
Since I’m working on another behind the scenes post (that my Patreon’s are aware of 😉 ), I’m considering writing about this track as well considering that it took some study before I was actually able to write the track; I think some of you may find the process interesting.
Till then, ENJOY!
Holding off for a little bit on the Fly post that my Patrons are aware of (see this post), it’s the end of the month and I’ll admit, it’s been a lot more maintenance and planning than anything. However, I have some exciting news for everyone!
UPDATE [08/08/2019]: Beyond the Mist is now officially available for download on the Pixel Mixers website. You can find all the download information here: https://pixel-mixers.com/2019/06/27/final-fantasy-ix-beyond-the-mist-tribute-album/
Let’s start with the big one. This has been a project that I’ve talked about before in previous posts. After a few delays, loads of work, sweat, tears, and generous contributions from over 50 musicians, Beyond the Mist (presented by Pixel Mixers), our astounding tribute album to Final Fantasy IX and Nobuo Uematsu will finally premier today, June 28th at 3:00PM. You can find the premier video below.
You’ll find my contribution on the track Oeilvert and I will also have the song available on my YouTube channel and SoundCloud after the project goes completely live.
The full project will also be available FOR FREE download…That’s more than 7 HOURS of music covering the COMPLETE Final Fantasy IX Original Soundtrack!
This post will be updated as soon as the download link goes live.
So it’s happening again! Yet another rare LIVE performance with myself and Out of Pockets slated also for today in Boca Raton at the Robot Brewing Company. I’ll be performing on their Halloween style track, Zombieland Dreams 3 once again!
My Patreon’s already know about this rather large project in development and I will have more public details about it soon. Patreon members get a first-hand look on the development process of the project so please don’t miss out!
That about does it for now! New projects are still on the horizon so keep it locked here for all future Key Jay updates!
On an earlier post, some of you may have been curious about what I meant by “Fantasy Prospects“. Well, today I’m happy to reveal a brand new project that I’ve been working on with the amazing members of the Pixel Mixers community.
Beyond the Mist is a tribute album to Final Fantasy 9 featuring over 20 PRODUCERS and MUSICIANS (pretty insane if you ask me)! Some talents include:
We’re pretty much covering the ENTIRE Final Fantasy 9 OST from top to bottom.
To make things better, the project creator, Hashel, has just released a Teaser for it. You can find the names of the artists and titles of each song in the teaser within the description. And of course, yours truly can be found towards the end.
As a note, this is not a final product as we still have mastering to do, but you’ll get the idea.
We are shooting for a release window of Q2 – 2019. More information about an official release date will be available soon.
So it certainly has been a while since I’ve been on a Podcast; the last one I did was with “The Geek Music Podcast“, which sadly is no longer in production. So when “Rhythm and Pixels” came to me and said they wanted to do an interview, and given how they were ecstatic to talk more Kingdom Hearts with me, and after I just finished a Kingdom Hearts based music production, I wholeheartedly said yes!
I had a great time with the dynamic duo Rob and Pernell; two excellent hosts and masters of their craft. I felt invited, loved the chill tone and just geeking out about multiple games and soundtracks. I’ve run into a few new tunes as well! We had some great laughs, and honestly, I think they’ve become one of my new favorite podcasts to be on, right next to Press Start to Continue!
That said, I must request a golf clap on my behalf in braving the Kingdom Hearts explanation task. It certainly wasn’t easy, but you’ve got to give me some credit!
Episode 17-3 of the Rhythm and Pixel podcast is available on iTunes, public RSS feed (this method works best for Pocket Cast users), and more which you can find on their website, https://rhythmandpixels.com/.
